The Atos Healthcare report

After your assessment, a report using criteria laid out by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), is completed by our health care professional.  This is to provide the DWP Decision Maker with an impartial, justified medical opinion about how you are affected by your medical condition. 

The report will describe your medical conditions and  the activities you undertake in a typical day.  It will also contain the healthcare professional’s observations and the results of any physical examination undertaken.

The report is one piece of information used by the DWP in deciding your entitlement.  The healthcare professional that carries out your assessment does not make any decision about your allowance, benefit or credits and normally would not know the outcome of your claim.

You may request a copy of the full report from the DWP office dealing with your claim.

Decisions on claims

The DWP will notify you of the outcome of your claim.

Decisions on claims are made by the DWP and any questions or concerns about the outcome of your claim should be made to the DWP office dealing with your claim.  They will know what information they have used to decide your entitlement whereas Atos Healthcare will not be aware of this as we have no decision making role.

You should contact the office of the DWP dealing with your claim if you have any further questions. Their number will be on letters you have received about your claim.   For Employment and Support Allowance and Industrial Injuries Benefits, if you don’t know their telephone number you can find out by calling 0800 055 6688.  If you have speech or hearing difficulties you can contact Jobcentre Plus using a text phone on 0800 023 4888.

For the Disability and Carers benefits, if you don’t know their telephone number you can find out by calling 08457 123456.  If you have speech or hearing difficulties you can contact them by text phone on 0845 722 4433.
