To understand the benefits of working for Atos Healthcare, see what our employees have to say: Dr Richard Scott Watson (Medical Advisor)Richard Scott Watson currently undertakes Incapacity Benefit (IB) and Disability Living Allowance file work and advice, IB examinations, industrial injury claims and war pensions work, in addition to management support activities. He also runs a company that provides medico-legal reports for solicitors and insurance companies in the personal injury field. He qualified in the Diploma in Disability Assessment Medicine in 2006. “I originally trained as an orthopaedic surgeon. Then I did a few years in Accident and Emergency before leaving the NHS in 1998 to do a Law degree. “I joined Atos Origin as a full-time employee and enjoy the variety my position offers. It’s lower in stress than other medical roles and has achievable targets, which makes it enjoyable. It also provides a stable income, which is good for long and short-term planning and offers a good work/life balance, which is otherwise hard to find in medicine. “There is constant development in this job along with full support and continued education, which makes every day an interesting prospect.” Dr Anne Ferguson (Assistance Medical Director)Anne Ferguson qualified in Glasgow in 1968. After 26 years as a GP Principle and OH Medical Advisor (MA) to M&S and several other companies, she was ready for a change and a new challenge. “Working for Atos Healthcare has really changed my preconceptions about working in the private sector. I’ve been delighted to see the improvement in the training we deliver and the quality of work we produce. On the personal side, I have more time to spend with my friends and family and do the things I really enjoy.” Suzanne FrewHaving qualified as a nurse in 1993, Suzanne progressed through several roles caring for the elderly, becoming Care Manager of a 66-bed home in 2004. With responsibility for 66 residents and over 70 staff, she found that she was very rarely ‘off duty’ with regular phone calls even on days off. On the recommendation of a friend who worked for Atos Origin, she joined Atos Healthcare as a Health Care Practitioner (HCP) working with the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) in late 2005. “I was excited that it would be the first time nurses would be employed to give advice to the DWP; I liked the idea of being a ‘pioneer’. I have also thoroughly enjoyed working with fellow HCPs in a training and support capacity and this is an area I hope to develop further. “There is a lot of variation in the work, and coming from shift work, I love the routine of Monday to Friday. The regular hours make it easier to socialise with family and friends and, although Atos Healthcare expects you to work hard, when the working day is finished you never ‘take the job home with you’. “I enjoy holidays and travelling but I found this difficult in my last job with only four weeks’ holiday a year. Now I have five weeks plus statutory holidays and the flexible benefits scheme means I can ‘buy’ an extra five days.” |
