Clinical Governance

Clinical Governance

Atos Healthcare operates robust clinical governance procedures, aligned to the Department of Health's Standards for Better Health to support modern high quality evidence-based healthcare delivery.

Chaired by our Chief Medical Officer, Atos Healthcare's Clinical Governance Board manages clinical risk, professional, ethical and research activity for all contracts and business areas. It is supported by clinical governance teams from each main contract or speciality. The Chief Medical Officer is the Caldicott Guardian for Atos Healthcare.

Our services are safe, supportive, caring and welcoming. Through rigorous risk assessment and clinical audit we demonstrate consistent quality and continual improvement.

The personal and professional development of our staff is a high priority, and is enabled through a range of programmes. Our practitioners maintain contact with professional peers to enhance their clinical effectiveness. We also organise conferences and our staff attend educational events. Our appraisal system for doctors has received recognition by the CHKS Healthcare Accreditation & Quality Unit (new window) (HAQU – formerly the Health Quality Service) – the longest established health accreditation service in the UK and Europe. This followed a comprehensive external review of our systems supporting licensing and revalidation of our medical professionals.
